The Bradbury, tennis court, basketball and multi-use sports surface, was formally opened on 2nd June 2013, with a Sunday afternoon sporting event, BBQ, tea and cakes.
Our thanks go to all our supporters and fund-raisers, with particular thanks to Peter Martinson (recreation ground trust secretary 2000-2013) for his hard work in the driving seat of this project raising the £29,000.00 required to renovate the land and install the new court.
Ash is very fortunate to have received major funding from The Bradbury Foundation without which this excellent sporting facility would not have been possible in 2013.
“The Bradbury Foundation is a grant making trust established by Mr Bertram Walter Bradbury known as “Bertie”.
Born in 1888 in Shropshire he was a local butcher who emigrated to Hong Kong.
In the early 1960’s Bertie set up a trust fund in aid of British charities.
On his death in 1970 Bertie’s considerable fortune was committed to the work of The Bradbury Foundation.” ©
